Vivid color and texture are my driving forces, impacting everything I create whether working in an abstract or impressionistic style. Inspiration may come from a memory, words, music or what's happening around me. My expressive paintings begin to tell a story as I rhythmically add multiple layers of paint, paper, texture, and at times found and recycled objects. In addition, I often incorporate resin which gives the piece a glass-like quality and visual depth and dimension. Through my contemplative exploration and response to the dance between paint, lines and shapes, I continually layer and edit the surface. The painting unfolds as each successive layer leads me closer to my 'aha' moment. In the process of storytelling, I often find it reveals a universal truth. If I feel it, maybe someone else will too.
I have been a professional artist for over 20 years. However, my love for creating art began as a child when I started using paper, crayons, scissors, and glue. Primarily a self-taught artist, I have also taken art classes in college and workshops from local, national and international artists. I have exhibited in local and national shows, galleries and art fairs. My artwork can be found in both private and public collections.
